Kevin Ira Vann

Board Chair and Founder

Born and raised in Manchester, Tennessee, Kevin spent much of his childhood exploring the area, now know, as Old Stone Fort State Park. Kevin’s interest and love for the Duck River Watershed grew deeply after his 1999 solo journey down the entire Duck River.

After graduating from the Motlow College School of Nursing, Kevin has spent nearly four decades as a frontline ICU/Trauma RN. Coupling his profession with his passion for travel has allowed Kevin to experience nursing in 5 different countries and numerous states in the U.S.A.

For a relative “lowlander”, Kevin embraced the atypical hobby of mountaineering. His love of the mountains eventually led him to the country of Nepal and to be a co-founder of the trekking company www.TREK8848.com. Kevin is one of less than 300 individuals, in history, to complete the Seven Summits challenge by summiting the highest peaks in all seven continents.  He’s seen the changes in the Himalayan Mountains since 1985, observing climatic changes that have impacted the peoples of that susceptible country. His passion for preserving the bio-diverse wonder, the Duck River of Tennessee, was spawned and strengthened by those experiences
