The Society focuses on building sustainability, health and education for the Duck River Watershed-America’s most bio diverse rivers.

Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee: Discretionary Grant Award.

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a nonprofit striving to build a more thriving and inclusive community — today and for generations to come —  by transforming thoughtful generosity into positive change, announces $2,803,889 in grants to 438 nonprofit organizations as part of the 2023 annual grantmaking process.

The Duck River Watershed Society has received a $5,000 grant to help support the organization’s general operating expenses, build organizational capacity, and support the Societies partner organization programs.

The DRWS is excited to announce its continued partnership with the Coffee County Middle School Sixth Grade class on their Duck River project module. Over 200 students will team up and develop display presentations that will focus on the river’s ecology, importance to middle Tennessee, and uniqueness of the over 650 aquatic species that call the river their home. Finished projects will be displayed throughout the community at venues, including Old Stone Fort State Park.

Bonnaroo Works Fund Supports the Duck River Watershed Society

The DRWS received a grant of support from the Bonnaroo Works Fund to support the 2024 Spring Clean-up event on March 2, 2024. The 2024 event will be our third one offered. Over the first two years, 2022 and 2023, our volunteer corp of over 125 individuals and families collected five tons of garbage, and removed over 175 tires from the watershed around the Fire Lake Boat Launch and Normandy Lake areas.

The core values of the Bonnaroo Works Fund are community, creativity, and positive influence. They champion those changing the world through social impact, human development, and community inspiration. Through their festival resources and culture, they support and collaborate with nonprofit partners  doing incredible things to benefit the arts, education, sustainability, and social significance.

Thank you BWF!
